India and Australia locked horns in the decider of the three-match T20I series at Hyderabad on Sunday. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. However, he would have kicked himself for the decision as Cameron Green and Aaron Finch started with a bang. Speaking of the former, the Australian looked on fire and reached his fifty off just 20 balls.

Australia ended up amassing as many as 66 runs in the powerplay but lost both Cameron Green and skipper Aaron Finch. However, the former cannot be blamed as he played a stunner before he crumbled for 52 runs.

Australia lost two crucial wickets to India in the middle overs and fans speculated a collapse right away. The Baggy Greens remained at 134/6 at the start of the 17th over. However, Tim David powered Australia with his fifty and helped them reach a mammoth total of 186 runs at the end of the first innings. While India looked like pulling things back in the middle overs, Tim David thrashed the dreams for the Men in Blue.

India's valiant chase

Speaking of India’s chase, the openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul perished quickly. However, India managed to amass 50 runs at the end of the powerplay and the match looked equally poised. Australian bowlers kept pitching it hard taking advantage of the extra bounce that the surface offered.

Suryakumar Yadav kept things going for India in the middle overs and steadied the Indian innings. The Indian side batted with intent and faced every ball with grit against a fiery Aussie pace battery. On the other hand, the Baggy Greens’ bowlers kept bowling short-pitched balls with an aim to pull things off.

Suryakumar Yadav bagged a splendid fifty to his name and kept India in the race. However, post his departure, Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli kept India in the hunt. Albeit the Indian veteran perished in the last over, India clinched the match by seven wickets. With this win, India sealed the series 2-1 and shut the critics in style.
