Team India is facing Australia in Indore in the 2nd ODI of their three-match series. Ahead of the game, a piece of major news broke from the Holkar stadium. Star pace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the game.

The 29-year-old has just made his return to the game after nearly 14 months out of the game. Bumrah played a crucial role in India winning the Asia Cup 2023 title. The Indian team management has already named the replacement for the game.

Australia won the toss and Steve Smith chose to bowl first. Team India has played 6 games at this venue and won all 6 games so far. India had played New Zealand at this venue earlier and won the high-scoring encounter. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma had scored centuries for India on that day.

Mukesh Kumar replaces Jasprit Bumrah in the squad

The Indian cricket board took to social media to inform that Jasprit Bumrah would not be part of the Indore game. The 29-year-old has flown back home to be with his family. Bumrah will be replaced by Mukesh Kumar who has been flown to Indore.

Bumrah had taken a break during the Asia Cup 2023 tournament in the game against Nepal. The Indian pace bowler was with his wife to welcome the birth of his 1st child. As per reports, Bumrah will be back with the Indian team for the final ODI at Rajkot on the 27th.

Prasidh Krishna was drafted into the playing XI after India was asked to bat first. Pat Cummins was rested for the game as Steve Smith was given the chance to captain the side. Apart from Pat Cummins, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Marsh were rested. Alex Carey, Spencer Johnson, and Josh Hazlewood made a comeback to the side.

The Indian team has gone with just one change, but the bowling will remain the same. Mohammad Shami will spearhead the attack and share the new ball with Shardul Thakur. The game is another chance for Shreyas Iyer to prove his form with the bat. This game is also important for Ravichandran Ashwin to keep his World Cup hopes alive.
