As the ODI World Cup 2023 approaches, rain has started playing spoilsport in the tournament. Before the start of the main matches, the warm-up game between Afghanistan and South Africa faced the heat of poor weather. The match has been abandoned due to heavy rainfall in Trivandrum.

The heavy rainfall didn't allow match officials to have a start on time, and both captains shook hands without a ball being bowled. It's worth noting that Trivandrum is set to host two more warm-up games. The fans would expect Rain to stay away from those games. Meanwhile, fans also started expressing their concern over main league games and are expecting the Indian Cricket Board to have better ground facilities.

However, now South Africa will wait for New Zealand in Trivandrum for their second warm-up game on October 2. Meanwhile, Afghanistan will travel to Guwahati to face Sri Lanka in their second warm-up game. It's worth noting that every participating team will play two warm-up games before the start of the prestigious ODI World Cup in 2023.

Pakistan displays its batting power against New Zealand

Talking about other warm-up games, the Pakistan cricket team showcased their batting power against New Zealand in Hyderabad. Batting first, they scored more than 300 runs with the help of half-century skipper Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, and century wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. However, Pakistani openers Imam-Ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique failed to score runs at a batting festival.

In another game, Sri Lanka faced Bangladesh in Guwahati. After a great start with the bat, Sri Lanka failed to hold nerves in the game. They were bowled out for 263/10 as Mehndi Hasan Miraz clinched three wickets for Bangladesh. For Sri Lanka, opener Pathum Nisannka and Kusal Parera added 104 runs for the first wicket. Nisannka, in his inning, scored 68 runs off 64 balls with the help of eight fours and a six. Apart from him, all-rounder Dhanjaya de Silva also scored a half-century.
