The fixtures for the World Test Championship 2023-2025 have been released as the winners of the 2021-23 WTC are set to be determined on Sunday with two of world cricket's powerhouses - India and Australia- battling at the Oval on the final day of the summit showdown.

India, the runners-up of the inaugural WTC, will host champions New Zealand, England and Bangladesh at home. Rohit Sharma and Co will play their away matches against Australia, West Indies and South Africa.

The third edition of the WTC will begin with the Ashes, as Australia is slated to travel to England for a five-match Test series from June 16 to July 31. The highlight contest of the 2023-25 cycle will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where the two WTC 2023 finalists will face each other in Australia. Pat Cummins and Co will be looking to avenge their 2-1 loss.

England to play the most games in the upcoming cycle

As in previous editions, the group stage will consist of 27 series and 68 matches, followed by a one-off final in a span of two years. All of the competing teams may not play the same number of matches. According to reports, England will play the most games in the upcoming cycle, with 22 scheduled, followed by Australia and India, who will play 21 and 20 games, respectively.

However, each team will play at least six series, including three home and three away series consisting of two to five matches. The forthcoming season will most likely use the same point system, with 12 points awarded for a win, four for a draw, and six for a tie, with rankings decided by the percentage of points earned. The final is slated to be held in June 2025 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

Cricket fans all across the world are looking forward to the exciting matches that lie ahead. Indian fans are hoping to reach another final of the Test Championship given the dominance the Men in Blue hold in the longer format. The Virat Kohli-led side lost to the Black Caps by eight wickets in the final of the 2021-23 cycle, but they have a 50-50 chance of winning the second edition if they can pull off a historic chase against Australia.
