Former Indian great Yuvraj Singh has launched a fresh attack on Indian team management on their choice of players for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Ajit Agarkar-muled selection committee of the Indian Cricket Board made a last-minute change in the squad by picking the veteran off-spin allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad. Ashwin made it to the primary 15-men squad as a replacement for injured Axar Patel.

Meanwhile, there have been a lot of questions from cricket fans and the experts of the game on the exclusion of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the ODI World Cup 2023 squad. The same debate was there in the Indian cricketing corridor when selectors included Chahal T20 World Cup 2022 squad but he didn’t get a chance to feature in the playing XI for even a single match of the tournament.

In the same line of events, the former legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has also come up with a warning for Team India and Indian management after they overlooked Chahal for another time in a marquee international tournament.

“Leaving out Yuzvendra Chahal could be a mistake, could be a worry. At least could have kept him in the squad. A leg-spinner is someone who will always take wickets for you. Kuldeep is doing fantastic. But Chahal could have been dangerous on turning tracks and slower wickets. Hardik giving you the balance of a third seamer, you could have picked Yuzvendra Chahal,” said Yuvraj Singh to the Week.

Apart from that, the ODI World Cup 2011’s player of the tournament also spoke about Team India’s current form ahead of the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup. He also felt that the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah would be one of the big positives for Team India in the tournament.

“Jasprit Bumrah coming back is good because there was something missing in that department. I had some concerns before the Asia Cup due to injuries. Winning the Asia Cup does not guarantee that you will win the World Cup. However, it shows that India is in good form,” said the 41-year-old.
