The birth of new shots has been to upset the bowlers has always been the key motive of the batters. The batters have and are inventing new shots which have helped them change the game.

Here are 5 cricketers and their signature shots

1.Kumar Sangakara -

The former Sri Lankan international is very famous for playing the cover drive. He had played this shot throughout his acclaimed career, repeatedly with absolute ease. He makes the shot look so easy and plays this particular shot with a lot of poise and grace.

Very few batters can play cover drive as elegantly as Kumar Sangakkara. The way he went down on his knees and punches the ball through covers, it was just a treat to watch. What stands out in Kumar Sangakkara’s cover drive is his balance.

2. M.S Dhoni-

The helicopter shot is MS Dhoni's trademark shot. He learnt this is his tennis ball cricket days. This shot used to help Dhoni play yorkers very easily. He used to get a lot of sixes and fours with this shot. The fans have adored this shot over the years.

Especially the bowlers at the death feared Dhoni a lot since they knew that captain cool would hit them out of the ground. He had developed this unique way of digging out the yorkers and sending the balls over the boundary line.

3. Sachin Tendulkar-

Sachin Tendulkar's trademark shot was the straight drive. The shot, when it was played, was a spectacle to watch. He used to play the straight drive with great balance and used to have nimble feet to play this shot. The fans have never gotten enough of this shot.

His straight drive was just like a fine crystal clear painting. The bat coming down on the ball at the right time and the ball racing away to the fence is just like sweet nectar when seen on loop again and again. This shot defined Sachin Tendulkar and it provided a great identity and association to the Little Master.

4. Tillakaratne Dilshan-

He used the dilscoop first in the 2009  20-20 World Cup. This shot is very effective when played properly. But it can be very threatening when executed wrongly. Dilshan used to play this shot with aplomb. He used to use the space behind the keeper to good effect.

Dilshan used this shot, especially in the 20-20 internationals but has used it in the one-day format as well. This shot seemed to be crazy but it proved to be very worthwhile once it was played. The Sri Lankan used to play the shot at the right time to get the desired result.

5. Kevin Petersen -

Kevin Petersen used to play the switch hit very easily. He used to use his fast hands through the ball to execute the shot. KP also had great hand-eye coordination which allowed him to play this shot well. He was no stranger to innovation and this shot symbolized that.

It was a shot which proved to be quite effective in putting off the bowlers. Kevin Petersen used to play this shot quite well and was frequently seen using this shot to good effect. This shot was also aired in an ad during the 2011 World Cup and was funnily called the Palti Shot in the ad.
