India will board the flight to Australia after the third T20I against South Africa. Albeit the Men in Blue have been winning the bilateral series, they have been struggling in tournaments. Recently, India bowed out of the Asia Cup 2022 in the Super 4 stages and in the group stage of the previous edition of the 20-20 World Cup respectively.
The Rohit Sharma-led team will participate in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. This might come to haunt the Men in Blue in crunch situations later in the tournament. As we understand the importance of the two players, let us take a look at three reasons why India can’t win the World Cup in Australia:
1) Jasprit Bumrah’s absence:
The Indian cricket board confirmed the ruling out of Jasprit Bumrah on October 3, Monday. The board said that it had to take the decision after consulting with specialists and the medical team. Bumrah is one of the key bowlers when it comes to death bowling and fans are panic-stricken already as India lacks an experienced death bowler.
Bumrah has played only five T20Is this year and it remains to see if he would make a comeback at the earliest. Finding the right replacement might be a grail for the Indian selectors and one can only hope that they would come up with the right player.
2) Lack of specialist death bowlers
With the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and lack of experience from Arshdeep Singh, India stare at a situation where they might lose matches in the death specific. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been poor in the 19th over and has conceded a lot of runs much to the dolefulness of the team management.
India’s death bowling has been threatening the team for a while and the management has struggled to find a way out of it.
3) Ravindra Jadeja’s absence:
Jadeja, India’s star all-rounder is recovering from a leg injury and underwent surgery recently. The 33-year-old was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 midway and has not returned since then.
Jadeja’s absence might come to smite team India during the knockout stages of the mega tournament. Although Axar Patel has done a decent job in supplanting the veteran, it remains to see if he could replicate the same in Australia.
