India will tour Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series starting on August 18. With most of the senior players from India rested, Zimbabwe might surprise India with a series win. However, it will not be an easy task given the young Indian guns are blazing to get onto the field.
Zimbabwe will enter the ODI series with full confidence after defeating Bangladesh in the ODI series. The young cricketers, backed by the experience of skipper Sikandar Raza, will go hard against the young and new Indian team from August 18.
The matches will be played at Harare Sports Club on August 18, 20 and 22. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian side, while Raza is expected to carry on the captaincy stint for the series against India. Zimbabwe is yet to announce the squad for the India ODI series. We have picked three players who have done exceptionally well of late, and are likely to make even pose a threat to India:
1) Innocent Kaia:
Innocent Kaia, the latest sensation of Zimbabwe, played a sensational knock against Bangladesh in the first ODI. The 30-year-old batter has been in exceptional form of late. The batter averages 47 in ODI cricket in five innings.
Kaia played a sensational knock of 110 in the first ODI and helped Zimbabwe triumph over Bangladesh. The Harare-based batter might pose a big threat for India while opening the innings for Zimbabwe. Watch out for him as he might end up getting a century against India too.
2) Sikandar Raza:
The Zimbabwe skipper is at the peak of his form. The 36-year-old batter has five centuries in the ODI format and has been serving Zimbabwe for a long time now. Raza might prove to be a threat for India in the middle order as it might be tough to get his scalp for the Indian bowlers.
Sikandar Raza scored a century in the first match against Bangladesh, joining hands with Kaia. He fired up in the second ODI too as he scored another century that sealed the series for Zimbabwe. He scored an unbeaten 135 in the second ODI to seal the series for his team.
3) Victor Nyauchi:
Victor Nyauchi is the third on the list and the most anticipated bowler of recent times. The right-arm medium bowler has picked two wickets in the two ODIs he has played so far.
But his variations and his economy have helped Zimbabwe contain the opposition. He might be crucial for Zimbabwe and might surprise India with his skills in the upcoming ODI series.
