After the tour of the West Indies, India will take on Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series at Harare stadium from August 18. The three ODI matches will be played on August 18th, 20th, and 22nd.

Shikhar Dhawan will, once again, wear the captaincy hat for the tour in the absence of senior players. KL Rahul is left out due to Covid-19 post-recovery issues. Virat Kohli has also been rested for the series.

Nevertheless, here's a look at the three major reasons why India can beat Zimbabwe:

1) All rounders' domination:

India will come up with a pretty good squad for the Zimbabwe tour. India has dominated Zimbabwe for years now. This time around, India have a strong all-rounders brigade. Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel can prove to be vital in the middle of the innings.

Deepak Chahar has also made his way back to the squad after getting ruled out of the squad due to injury, earlier. He can be handy with the bat as well. The all-rounders can dominate the series and Deepak Chahar will be the one to watch out for.

The Chahar-Thakur duo can be threatening with pace in the bank. Sundar-Patel-Hooda trio can be threatening from the spin prospect. This gives an edge for India over Zimbabwe.

2) Strong Openers:

India has a strong opening contingent for the Zimbabwe tour. Shikhar Dhawan and Shubhman Gill made it extremely tough for the West Indies in the ODI series. Shubman Gill scored an aggregate of 205 runs in the series at an average of 102.50.

The duo has been successful and they are, once again, expected to make a difference. A strong opening partnership sets the tone for any team. Zimbabwe's bowling inexperience can force them to try something different to break the opening partnership.

Even the backup openers are pretty strong, having got the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. Even if Gill misses out, Ruturaj Gaikwad can replace him. No matter who misses out, there is someone on the bench who is strong enough to give quickfire starts to the team.

3) Shikhar Dhawan – VVS Laxman combination:

Shikhar Dhawan – VVS Laxman combo will be seen in action for the very first time in the International arena. With VVS Laxman at the helm, Shikhar Dhawan would feel relaxed. The southpaw can make use of the work experience he had with him in the Hyderabad team.

The last time India toured Zimbabwe, MS Dhoni was still a part of the team. The experience of Shikhar Dhawan and the coaching record of VVS Laxman on the Ireland tour can make a big difference. They have already worked together in the Hyderabad Team in the Indian T20 League and it might come in handy in Zimbabwe as well.
