Yuzvendra Chahal, the Indian wrist spinner, was rested for the third consecutive time in the clash against South Africa on October 30, Sunday, which saw the Proteas taking 2 points home. Although the spinner was not a part of the playing XI, Chahal made it to the headlines after having cheeky banter with the on-field umpires during the first innings when he carried drinks to Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.

Although it was of playful intent, fans opined that it was inappropriate from the spinner. However, Chahal’s fans, who disagreed with the critics, hit back saying that it was not something to be criticised.

South Africa end India’s golden run

With both the teams being undefeated in the tournament, the Proteas team led by Temba Bavuma put an end to India’s golden run as they chased down the meagre target of 134 with ease. Post the defeat, the Indian captain, Rohit, admitted to the team’s poor fielding performance and added that they will learn from the game.

“We expected that the pitch will have something in it. We knew that there'll be a lot of help for the seamers, that's why it wasn't an easy target to chase. We fell a little short with the bat. We fought well, but South Africa were better today,” said Rohit after the match.

“We were a little poor in the field, we gave so many chances and we weren't clinical. We were just not good enough. The last two games, we were pretty good in the field. We couldn't hold our chances, we missed a few run-outs. We need to keep our heads high and take a learning from this game. I've seen what happens with the spinners in the last over, so I wanted to go the other way," he added.

"If I can finish Ash, I just wanted to make sure that the seamers are bowling the right overs. You have to use it at some point. With the new batter, it was the perfect time for him to bowl,” said the right-handed batter further. As it stands, here were bring you some Twitter reactions for Chahal's antics:
