Following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL), attention is now turned to the World Test Championship final, in which India will face Australia. India, which narrowly lost out on the championship in 2021, is going to get the stunning mace in the much awaited event, which begins on June 7 at The Oval.

India, which has won each of the past four Test series against Australia , has been the more dominant of the two sides in recent years. When the two teams last faced off, India prevailed 2-1, but spectators did get to watch a couple of newbies from the Australian side put on a spirited fight.

Todd Murphy, who debuted in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy previously this year, was one of them. Murphy participated in all four Test matches and claimed 14 wickets in total at a 25.21 average. In spin-friendly circumstances, Murphy was able to challenge the Indian batters, but he is eager to add R Ashwin's "carrom ball" to his arsenal.

“....Able to do it the way Ravi Ashwin can” : Todd Murphy

The young Australian spinner spoke to AAP and discussed the new tactics that he was planning on using during the Test Championship final. He said, "I am still working on that but I am still a long way off being able to do it the way Ravi Ashwin can."

The spinner talks about the different skill sets a bowler should possess if he has to challenge the batter in any way. He said,

“It is simple in a way, and yet so difficult. It is just about being confident that you can execute it. I'd love to be able to add that myself one day. If you have a delivery that goes the other way it just poses different challenges for the batsmen. You are always looking at ways to tinker and add things to your kitbag but in Test cricket you have to make sure your fundamentals are really good and your stock ball is in as good a position as you can."
