Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United has been terminated with immediate effect. In the club’s statement, it is said that the decision comes after a week when the sensational interview with Piers Morgan went on air.

In the interview, he talked about how the top brass at Manchester United did not want him to come for a second stint. His equation with the manager Eric ten Hag and he also said that he felt betrayed by the management there and that he did not have an ounce of respect for ten Hag. This marks an end to Ronaldo’s stay at United.

It has been a season to forget for one of the Greatest of all time in football. He has scored only once across 10 league appearances for the Red Devils. Here is what he had to say in his statement - “Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early,”

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge. “I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

On the other side, this was the statement from the club, “The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future,” the statement said.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.” The already feisty relationship between Ronaldo and ten Hag further had a greater thaw when he refused to go on as a substitute and left for the tunnel before the match ended.

It is at United that Ronaldo saw the making of himself from a skillful winger when he was a youngster to becoming one of the best in the world. He won three Premier League titles, One FA Cup, two league cups, Champions League and his first Ballon d' or crown.
