India has produced some of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket. India's neighbours, on the other hand, produce match-winning bowlers by default. Sri Lanka had the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas. Of late, one term that is used often during short format games is ‘death overs’.
While there are powerplay specialists, a team needs at least one death-over specialist to deliver during the end overs. As for the Asia Cup, India tasked Bhuvneshwar Kumar with leading the pace attack. Not a bad choice as the pacer has already proved his bowling prowess.
At the same time, there has always been a question of him delivering it in the end overs. Not to undermine the player’s quality, as he has indeed delivered it at times for the team too. There have been matches when he single-handedly let the team down.
Being the lead pacer in Tuesday’s clash against the island nation, he was expected to deliver in the penultimate over. For the unversed, India amassed 173 runs in 20 overs after being told to bat first by Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lankan openers got off to a great start aggregating 97 runs for the opening wicket.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar's penultimate over blunder
The Sri Lankan batters were cruising at 153 for the loss of 4 wickets after 18 overs. The Hyderabad pacer was given the ball for the penultimate over as expected. The 32-year-old faced backlash for not delivering it against Pakistan and he was under pressure this time too.
It was yet another off day for him as he gave away 14 runs in his over and made things easier for Sri Lanka. What angered the fans was not the runs but the extras. The right-armer gave away two wides in the over and looked confused to come with the right ball.
It is a social media era and fans did not waste a second abusing the pacer on Twitter. The trolls were in the offing given the bowler let the team down for the second consecutive time.
We decided to pick a few trolls that fans came up with against Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
Guys I think @BCCI needs to replace bhuvneshwar kumar to @MdShami11. And also look for @RishabhPant17.

What you think guys please reply me..
The match was lost not because of Arshdeep but because of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he gave away more runs in both the matches in the 19th over, but Arshanip's hard work has been good.

Why are we forgetting Bhuvneshwar Kumar in both the matches?? He is the main culprit. This kid is a really great bowler.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar giving wides in 19th over is criminal. There are expectations as the strike bowler and the most experienced one & he failed in both matches

Life lesson : Never give 19th over to Bhuvneshwar Kumar 😂😂

Bhuvneshwar Kumar should retire immediately after giving our team a worse humiliation of losing to two teams (1 weak) single handedly!!#INDvSL
