Saint Lucia Kings, after suffering a disappointing defeat on the opening day of the CPL 2023 tournament, showcased their resilience and determination as they bounced back with a comprehensive 54-run victory over the Barbados Royals. This triumph not only marked their first win of the tournament but also set the tone for their campaign. 

As the match progressed there was a funny incident that happened while the run chase in the second innings. Cornwall flicked the first ball he faced off Matthew Forde towards Chris Sole at short fine-leg and casually began to jog through for a single. Sole had enough time to gather himself after a fumble. He managed to turn around and his direct hit caught Cornwall hilariously short of his crease as the Barbados Royals lost a wicket off the first ball of the innings.

After the incident, fans reacted on why it is necessary to prioritize fitness. Some stated it should have happened one day, while others said he went to take a single run but it stole his wicket. There was a lot of talk about it on social media, especially Twitter.

After losing the toss and being put into bat, the Kings' batters displayed remarkable skill and aggression. Led by their captain, Faf du Plessis, who scored 47, they posted a formidable total of 201 runs. Their batting lineup exhibited great depth and versatility as each player contributed significantly to the team's score.

However, it was not just their batting prowess that led them to victory. The Kings' bowlers were equally impressive in defending their total. They executed well-planned strategies and consistently took wickets at regular intervals. Matthew Forde's exceptional bowling performance stood out as he claimed three crucial wickets while conceding only 12 runs in his four overs.  He bagged the 'Player of the Match' award for his match-winning display.
