Former Bangalore player Chris Gayle was part of the team from the 2011 to 2017 seasons of the Indian T20 League. 12 years back, he joined the team as a replacement for former Australia and Netherlands pacer Dirk Nannes who got injured at the time. Meanwhile, during his stay with the team, they reached the finals in 2011 and 2016 and the playoffs in 2015.

Meanwhile, during his stay with the team and outside of it, the Red Army has failed to win a single season. The team reached the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 and reached the playoffs in 2010, 2015, 2020, 2021, and 2022. The upcoming season will bring another opportunity for the three-time finalists. Ahead of the season, Gayle has pointed out the reasons why his former team hasn't been able to win the title.

A lot of players felt left out: Chris Gayle

The left-hander started by saying that the focus was on some of the main players such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and himself. The Jamaican added that a lot of players felt left out of the team and only three top players were getting all the attention. He further added that with other players out of the team mentally, it makes it difficult for them to win the title.

"You know sometimes being one of the main players, the main man. I am always in my own zone. What I understand when it comes from the Bangalore point of view, a lot of players felt left out. A lot of players didn't feel like they are part of the franchise. It was only three players getting all the attention, myself, Virat and AB. So a lot of players pretty much mentally are nowhere within the team. So that's always going to be a challenge to win a title", said Gayle in a conversation with Jio Cinema, the online streaming rights holder of the tournament.
