India batter Shreyas Iyer has been spotted with teammate Yuzvendra Chahal's wife Dhanashree Verma and her friends. In a photo that is going viral, he was standing last in the photo with Verma and her friends. Iyer has been ruled out of the India Premier League 2023. On the other hand, Chahal is currently holding the Purple Cap in the tournament.

The former is not only ruled out of the IPL but also from the Test Championship final against Australia in June 2023. It is said that he would opt for back surgery which rules him out till September. Meanwhile, the fans have been teasing the right-hander while him partying while being ruled out of the game.

Nitish Rana is leading KKR in Shreyas Iyer's absence

Meanwhile, ahead of the tournament, the two-time winners announced Nitish Rana as their captain for the IPL 2023. At the time, Iyer was ruled out for half of the season and the team was hoping for his return. A few days later, it was said that the Mumbaikar will go through back surgery. Under Rana, the team has won one game out of two so far.

“Kolkata today announced that Nitish Rana would captain the side in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from a back injury. While we are hopeful that Shreyas will recover and participate at some stage in the ITL 2023 edition, we feel fortunate that Nitish, with captaincy experience having led his state side in white-ball cricket and the ITL experience he has had with Kolkata since 2018, will do a great job.

“We are also confident that under Head Coach Chandrakant Pandit and the support staff, he will get all the support needed off the field, and the highly experienced leaders in the squad will provide all the support that Nitish may need on the field. We wish him the best in his new role and Shreyas a full and speedy recovery,” the franchise said in their official statement.
