West Indies won the second T20I against India in Guyana by 2 wickets. The home side has a lead of 2-0 in the series with 3 games to go. On a not-so-easy track to bat on, Indian captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. The Indian batters did not show enough intent with the bat throughout the innings. In both powerplay and middle overs, Indian batters struggled.

The openers failed yet again. Ishan Kishan scored 27 runs in 23 balls, while Gill was dismissed after scoring 7 runs in 9 balls. Suryakumar Yadav was unfortunately undone by the runout. Sanju Samson failed to perform in yet another match. The finishers like Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel did not fire enough. The only positive for India was Tilak Varma.

The young batter showed composure and scored his maiden T20I fifty. In the first T20I, Varma scored 39(22) and impressed everyone. In the second T20I, the Southpaw showed his different game of anchoring the innings. If not for a couple of blows from Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi, India would not have crossed a score of over 150.

Pooran special seals the deal

153 was not a difficult target. But the Indian bowlers were right on the money in the powerplay overs. Hardik Pandya got rid of Brandon King for a golden duck and dismissed Johnson Charles in the very first over. A dangerous Kyle Mayers was sent back to the pavilion by Arshdeep Singh, as India had West Indies at 32/3 after 3.4 overs.

What followed was a Nicholas Pooran special. The Southpaw dominated the Indian bowlers from the start and framed good partnerships with Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer. Pooran rotated the strike well and hit boundaries for fun. The innings of the West Indies captain completely changed the game. Though the three batters could not finish the game, the job was done. Towards the end, the likes of Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph finished the game for West Indies.
