Michael Cole has been the voice of Monday Night Raw for the last decade and a half. The 56-year-old was missing World Wrestling Entertainment’s flagship programming Monday Night Raw.
This was the season premiere of the longest-running wrestling show on American TV Networks. The likes of Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, Judgment Day and many more attractions were scheduled to be on the show.
The show’s premiere sets the tone for the upcoming Crown Jewel PLE as well as the Survivor Series event in November. This year’s Survivor Series is set to take place in Chicago with rumors of CM Punk being part of the event swirling in the air.
Michael Cole misses the season premiere of Monday Night Raw –
Called the ‘Voice of WWE’ – Michael Cole has rarely missed any WWE Show during his 26-year tenure with the company. As per Mike Johnson of PW Insider reported that Michael Cole missing the show hasn’t got to do anything with health-related issues.
Mike Johnson said “We are told that Michael Cole had requested this week off some time ago due to a personal commitment. And it happened to land on what was later scheduled to be the Raw season premiere. It is not an illness or anything similar”
This week’s Monday Night Raw was held in Oklahoma City and the biggest names of the company were present. The show began with Sami Zayn cutting a promo on Kevin Owens being traded to Smackdown last weekend. Jey Uso came out and the two later cut promos on each other before hugging it out in the ring.
Shinsuke Nakamura emerged as the winner when he beat Ricochet in a falls count anywhere match. The match between Natalya and Piper Niven saw Natalya lose the match cleanly. Seth Rollins went into a promo battle with Drew McIntyre. The Scottish superstar seemed to challenge Rollins for the title at Crown Jewel.
The main event of the night saw Judgment Day take on Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso for the tag titles. The match had the fans on the edge of their seats with all four wrestlers giving it their all. Jimmy Uso came out to interrupt and cost Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso the title as Judgment Day won the tag-team titles.
