Rather than Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) nine-run victory, it was an ugly fan fight that stole the show at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 29. A video of fans fighting during the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between SRH and Delhi Capitals (DC) has gone viral on social media. The cause of the is unknown, but it all started as verbal exchanges but quickly escalated into physical altercation.

The craze for IPL is unreal as fans flock from different parts of the country to watch their favourite players in action. The fierce battles between players on the field can sometimes transfer over to their supporters in the stands, resulting in disputes and even physical fights. However, such incidents like the one we saw in Delhi cannot be encouraged and it highlights the need for more measures to prevent future occurrences.

Watch the video below:

Mitchell Marsh's all-round heroics went in vain as SRH won by 9 runs

Talking about the match, SRH ended DC's two-game winning streak and climbed to the eighth spot in the IPL 2023 points table. Choosing to bat first, SRH amassed a competitive total of 197 runs thanks to half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma (67 off 36) and Heinrich Klaasen (53* of 27). Except the two, no other batters could show any resistance at the crease as Mitchell Marsh had a dream outing yesterday, picking up four wickets in four overs.

Chasing a huge total, the hosts suffered a major setback in the first over when Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed DC captain David Warner for a two-ball duck. However, Mitchell Marsh and Philip Salt put on a stunning 112 partnership for the second wicket. At one stage, it looked like the two would finish off the things, but when SRH skipper Aiden Markram chose to go with a spin attack, the game turned in their favour.

Right-arm spinner Mayank Markande dismissed Salt in the 12th over and Akeal Hossain sent back the dangerous Mitchell Marsh for 63 (39) in the 14th over. Axar Patel then played some shots in the end but by then SRH were in full control of the game and restricted the hosts to 188-6.
