The inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League is set to begin on Saturday, March 4, 2023. All the teams have started their preparations and are buzzing ahead of the start of the tournament. Delhi was the last franchise to announce their captain and as a result, all five teams are now prepared for the eagerly anticipated league.

Who are the captains and head coaches of the five franchises?

Meg Lanning was selected as the Delhi captain for the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League 2023 season on March 1. They were the last team to name their captain for the upcoming competition, which will begin on March 4 in Mumbai. Lanning will closely work with Jonathan Batty to take their team to the title of the inaugural edition of the WTL.

Fans weren't surprised when Bangalore was the first team to reveal its leader. Smriti Mandhana, who was the most expensive purchase at the WTL auction last month, will be in charge of the well-liked franchise in Bangalore. Under the leadership of Mandhana and head coach Ben Sawyer aim to achieve a feat that the men's team haven't been able to.

Leading Indian national team player Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Mumbai franchise and will have to bear with a lot of burden from the fans considering the rich history. Mumbai have the services of Charlotte Edwards as their Head Coach and would be looking to add more trophies to their prestigious trophy cabinet.

While top Australian batter Beth Mooney led the Gujarat Giants. She would be looking to achieve a rare feat where both the men's and women's franchise from Gujarat would lift the title in their inaugural edition of the T20 League. Gujarat have roped in Rachel Haynes who can be a lethal weapon for the franchise off the field.

Everyone was taken aback when UP Warriorz chose Alyssa Healy as captain instead of Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who was born in the area. The latter, though, was later chosen to serve as vice-captain during the debut campaign. Jon Lewis was named as UP Warriorz's head coach. But the combination of Lewis and Healy can prove to be vital going forward and this can be a great learning step for Deepti Sharma who might have a chance to lead the side in later editions of the league.
