WATCH: Sakshi Malik quits wrestling after Brij Bhushan's aide wins poll

The wrestling scene has suddenly turned ugly with a lot of emotions riding on people with the Wrestling Federation India(WFI). With a lot of allegations and a lot of politics going on as Sanjay Kumar Singh wins the election and becomes the new WFI president. There are still some unhappy wrestlers in Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat who were fighting to stop and bar Sanjay from contesting since he was known as the right hand man of ex WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. 

The reason for this is due to the criminal history and allegations on Brij Bhushan which created a lot of negativity in the wrestling community. Malik, Phogat and Punia were the athletes who were standing against him and were fighting the case on behalf of the community. Unfortunately after Sanjay Kumar Singh chose to run for President, the three came together and were against the federation from letting him contest since he was a close aide to Brij Bhushan

Sakshi Malik quits

There was a press conference involving the three wrestlers where there were a lot of questions asked. Three of the wrestlers were visibly disappointed with the results with dejected looks where Sakshi malik openly said that Sanjay was Brij Bhushan’s right hand man. Malik couldn’t take the result which led to her resigning while putting her wrestling shoes on the table saying "  We slept for 40 days on the roads and a lot of people from several parts of the country came to support us. Now that Brij Bhushan Singh's business partner and a close aide has been elected as the president of WFI, I quit wrestling. thank all my country-men who supported us until today."

These were sad and emotional scenes in the wrestling community which led to the olympic medalist to retire from the sport at the peak of her career. This action from Sakshi might be rash for some people, but it looks like an emotional stand taken from the athlete after suffering a lot while fighting with the federation where she felt that she failed and left her country down.This is one of the most emotional and bitter moments in the wrestling community and we hope the wrestler stays strong as she has been throughout theses times.
