Star India batter Shubman Gill is set to participate in his first World Cup. Going into the biggest carnival of the game, Gill has been phenomenal throughout the year. He has scored more than 1,200 international runs in the ongoing calendar year and has smashed six centuries in ODIs.

His performance has led him to become the No. 2 ODI batter. Meanwhile, ahead of the prestigious ODI World Cup, former India allrounder Yuvraj Singh praised Gill. Yuvraj said that Gill has immense potential to become the best player of this generation. He also called Gill a game-changer. “Next star, nahi. Star toh woh already hai (he is already a star). He is now fearless. He is in good form.

"Gill can be the game-changer. He can break the shackles. When somebody is fearless and in good form, he is definitely in a good position to win games for India. That's what I am looking for from him. He has the potential to become the best player of this generation",  Yuvraj said at a promotional event. It's worth noting that Yuvraj Singh was India's best player in both ODI and T20I World Cup triumphs. He was a player of the tournament in the 2011 ODI World Cup.

"I don't see a batter who can bowl", says Yuvraj Singh

Further speaking about the weakness in the team, Yuvraj pointed out the lack of part-time bowlers in the team. Yuvraj said that India had great players during the previous World Cup, but in this squad, he can't find a batter who can bowl. "I look at some great batters. We had a lot of great batsmen. This team has a few because there have been a lot of injuries. However, I don’t see batters who can bowl on this team. Part-time bowlers are tough to bowl now because the format has changed", he said.

It's worth noting that India will start their World Cup campaign today. They will face defending champion England in a warm-up game in Guwahati. The Indian team will look to have a great game ahead of the prestigious ODI World Cup. The team will also look to check a few boxes before going into the main event.
