England won their second consecutive game against New Zealand on Friday. The victory left the T20 world champions England 2-0 ahead in the four-match series. This win followed their equally emphatic seven-wicket success at Chester-Le-Street on Wednesday. On the other hand, New Zealand are yet to open their account in the series.

Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook set the tone for England's after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Bairstow batted through the innings for 86 runs without being dismissed, and Brook scored a quick 67 runs as England finished with 198-4. In just 65 balls, the partnership added 131 for the third wicket. Bairstow hit eight fours and four sixes out of the 60 balls he faced. He remained Player of the match.

On social media, fans who were responding to Jonny Bairstow's innings expressed their opinions. Some said that it was still a slow inning and that the runs could have been scored in a quick phase. Others compared it to Harry Brook, who scored quickly. Few people have appreciated him for playing it safe and staying till last.

A dream debut for Gus Atkinson

England debutant Gus Atkinson had his dream debut to his national team, he was impressive throughout the innings and caught everyone’s eye on his very first game. With his excellent spell he took four wickets as the hosts hammered New Zealand.

The fast bowler finished with excellent figures of 4-20, the best by an England debutant at this level. He wrapped up the game by taking three wickets in an over as New Zealand, on a stiff chase of 199, collapsed to 103 all out.

Fans and cricket experts are both surprised by Harry Brook's exclusion from the World Cup. The explosive batsman has recently done a fantastic job playing to the side and has the ability to win games all by himself. However, Harry Brook was left off of the team for the 2023 World Cup because to Ben Stokes' presence, who has been a pioneer for England from early years. However, until September 28, the selectors can make changes and must be strongly tempted to crowbar him into place.
