'What a match' - Fans react as RCB beat UP Warriorz by 2 runs in 2nd match of WPL 2024

Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated UP Warriorz by 2 runs in the face off at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bangalore women (RCB) won the second game of the WPL 2024 against UP Warriorz women on Saturday. Speaking about the game here, it was UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy who won the toss and invited the Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first in the game in the second game of WPL 2024, which took place on February 24 at M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bangalore. Notably, after being sent to bat first, they posted 157/6 in the given 20 overs of the game.

RCB didn't have a great start to the game as star opening batter Sophie Devine departed after scoring just one, while skipper Smriti Mandhana departed for 13 runs after scoring one four and a six in the game. However, Sabbhineni Meghana was the star of the game as she went on to hammer 53 runs from 44 balls, scoring seven fours and one six with a solid strike rate of 121.

Following him, top-order batter Ellyse Perry was just down for eight runs; however, it was great middle-order batter Richa Ghosh who played an outstanding knock in the game. Notably, the middle order went on to score 62 runs from 37 balls, featuring 12 boundaries with a solid strike rate of 168, to help his side post 157/6 in the given 20 overs.

However, UP Warriorz had a decent start to the game, as skipper Alyssa Healy made 5 runs while Vrinda Dinesh made 18 runs from 28 balls, scoring three fours. Following them, Tahila McGrath hammered 22 runs, while great batter Grace Harris made 38 runs from 23 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes.
Meanwhile, star batter Shweta Sehrawat made 31 runs in the last, which gave them some hope of winning the clash.

However, RCB made a terrific comeback in the last two overs as they successfully defended their target. Notably, UP Warriorz managed to get 155/7 in the given 20 overs of the game and lost the game by 2 runs.
