Former Australia captain Aaron Finch recently opened up on his struggles against India veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. His weakness was quite evident against swinging deliveries as he had a bit open batting stance. Former Australia opener was dismissed seven times by Kumar out of which four came in one series back in 2019 when India went to Australia.
Finch announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year. He declared his ODI retirement last year and will captain Australia in the home T20 World Cup later in 2022. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is now out of favour with Team India, having last played for the team in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2022.
Yep!! Tried for 15 years to stop that happening: Aaron Finch
Kumar also dismissed Finch twice in T20Is and once in IPL 2016. A user tweeted, "Why did Bhuvi trouble you a bit? Could you elaborate? Is it your feet coming across?" Finch came up with a cheeky reply and quote-retweeted: "Yep!! Tried for 15 years to stop that happening."
In 146 One-Day Internationals, he batted with an average of over 40. He also played 103 T20 internationals, with a strike rate of 142.53 and an average of 34.28. He held the record for the highest score in a T20 international not once, but twice, hitting 156 against England in 2013 and then 172 against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2018.
The 36-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year, after guiding his team to 40 victories in 76 games. Finch was last seen in action for San Francisco Unicorns in the inaugural Major League Cricket. He managed just 68 runs in five games.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, on the other hand, has been out of the game for some time due to injury. He was a constant face of the Indian squad until 2022, particularly in the shortest version of the game, but he has since been on the sidelines. He now plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, where he has struggled to make an impression in recent seasons.
The 33-year-old social media activities last month caused quite a stir when he removed the word 'cricketer' from his Instagram account. The update sparked discussion among fans, with many speculating that the top bowler is thinking about retiring from the game.
