Pakistan captain Babar Azam is playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in 2023 for the Colombo Strikers. Babar is playing in any other league apart from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the first time in his career. In his recent interaction, the star batter revealed that his real motive behind playing in the LPL 2023 is to play against quality spinners. It is pertinent to mention that after the league, the Pakistan team will play the ODI series against Sri Lanka starting on August 22.

The right-hander has been in good touch so far for the Strikers in the LPL 2023, as he has scored 7, 59, and 41 in three games. However, the Colombo-based side has lost two games in the three matches it has played this season so far. The 28-year-old stated that it is a good experience for him as major upcoming tournaments are set to be in the subcontinent with the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023

"Whenever you play different leagues, in different conditions you end up learning a lot. I try my level best to perform well. I adapt to different conditions while facing different bowlers from Asia because we have a lot of cricket coming up in Asia. "We have Asia Cup, the Afghanistan series and the World Cup as well. I will try to focus, adapt to the conditions, and face good spinners to prepare for these upcoming big tournaments," Babar Azam said in a media release.

"This is my first league and I am looking forward to playing all the matches. I joined the team a couple of days back and felt really happy after meeting my teammates. We have a young team and everyone is looking forward to giving their best, improving and performing well for the franchise," he further added.

Interestingly the Island nation is set to host the Asia Cup 2023 alongside Pakistan, while the ODI World Cup 2023 will be in India. Speaking of the LPL 2023 sides, Babar’s side skipper is Niroshan Dickwella, and Kushan Mendis is leading the Dambulla Aura. Galle Titans are led by Dasun Shanka, B-Love Kandy is led by Wanindu Hasaranga, and the last edition winner, Jaffna Kings is captained by veteran all-rounder Thisara Perera.
