The young Indian batter Rinku Singh shared his emotions in the video shared by the Indian Cricket Board as Jitesh Sharma was interviewing him. Rinku earned a call-up to the Indian team for the three-match T20I series, which will start on Friday, August 18.
It is pertinent to mention that the left-handed batter was selected for the Ireland tour based on his performance in IPL 2023, where he scored 474 runs from 14 games with an average of 59.25, including a strike rate of 149.52, but his fame and glory innings were surely in one match where he hit five sixes in the last over to chase down the target.
My mother always motivated me to play for India: Rinku Singh
It’s a good feeling because every player’s dream is to play for India. When I saw my jersey No.35 after reaching my room, I became emotional. The thing I was working hard for was finally here,” Rinku said in the video shaded by the Indian Cricket Board.
“I was in Noida where I practice with my friends. When the team was announced, I was delighted and I called my mother. She always motivated me to play for India,” he further added.

Interestingly, this series will also be relevant as Jasprit Bumrajh is coming into the squad after a gap of almost one year. Another pacer, apart from Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, is also coming back to the squad after recovering from the injury. The successful comeback of these two will surely ease the Rohit Sharma-led side's problems in the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. Although eyes will be on IPL 2023 prodigy Singh, the 25-year-old will be likely to make a debut in this series.
Whereas the Board and Ajit Agarkar-led side were slammed after the Aligarh-born cricketers were not selected in the recently concluded West Indies tour. But now Singh is named in the Men in Blue squad for the Ireland tour and the Asian Games 2022 fixtures.
