Virat Kohli has been in great form in the 20-20 World Cup so far as the batter has three 50-plus scores from four innings. He had a wonderful Asia Cup in 2022 where he scored 276 runs from five games with two fifties and one hundred with an average of 92 and at a stellar strike rate of 147.59.

This is no strange fact as the conditions in Australia where the Indian great would be able to play good cricketing shots and score bucketfuls of runs at the big grounds. He has scored 671 runs in a ten-year span at an average of 83.87 and at an impressive strike rate of 144.61 and the stupendous record is one standing example to prove that Kohli loves playing in Australia.

Now he has carried on his form into the 20-20 World Cup with three fifty-plus scores from four innings. Speaking after the knock against Bangladesh, here is what he had to say, “It was another good day with the bat I guess, was trying to play myself into the innings. When I went in there was pressure, was watching the ball well. To answer your question, I would just say that I'm just in a happy space, I don't want to compare anything. What's in the past is in the past.”

He further went on to say how he felt when he eclipsed Mahela Jayawardene’s record of scoring the most number of runs in 20-20 World Cups. Earlier it was Jayawardene who was top of the tree with 1016 runs and now Kohli tops the list with 1065 runs.

Virat added, “As soon as I knew the World Cup was in Australia, I was grinning from ear to ear. I knew good cricketing shots would be the key. I knew the kind of experience and game awareness of having played in Australia will come in handy for the team. I absolutely love playing on this ground. Right from the nets at the back, as soon as I enter, it makes me feel at home. That knock at MCG was meant to be, but when I come here, it's like I'm meant to come to Adelaide and enjoy my batting."
