Shreyas Iyer has been in good form in the limited number of Tests that he has played he has scored 504 runs at an average of 56 and a strike rate of 64.28. The Mumbai batter had a wonderful debut series to remember as he scored 202 runs in two matches. His highest score was a 105 which came in his debut test at Kanpur.

Iyer got the runs at an average of 50.50 and a strike rate of 58.55. In the next series that he played against Sri Lanka, he scored 186 runs at an average of 62 and a strike rate of 79.82. He scored two fifties in that series. He got into the Test side and showed his worth. The Mumbai batter had got runs for India and played a “khadoos” brand of cricket that Mumbai was known for in his limited Test career.

In the first Test against Bangladesh, He came in with India in a precarious situation India were 112-4 when Rishabh Pant got out. He rallied with Cheteshwar Pujara and formed a wonderful partnership with the Indian Test veteran that got India back into the game. He played a beautiful innings of an unbeaten 82 off 169 balls with 10 fours.

Iyer will look to continue his good form on Day 2 with the bat and will want to bat long for India to get a big first-innings score. India ended Day 1 at 278-6. India have very less batting to come as it is just Ravichandran Ashwin and then the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Umesh Yadav to follow.

Iyer also had a massive scare when he was on 78 as Ebadot Hossain bowled a good delivery that got Iyer into a tangle as an inswinging delivery beat Iyer and then brushed the stumps on the way to the keeper. But fortunately for the Mumbaikar, the bails did not dislodge, and Iyer survived to see through to the end of the day.
