London Spirit and Welsh Fire testified themselves against each other to clinch the most crucial two points in The Hundred 2022. The Welsh Fire skipper Josh Cobb won the toss and elected to field first. Wicketkeeper Adam Rossington and Daniel Bell-Drummond opened the innings first up for London Spirit.

The average first innings total at Lord’s is 150 and the batters looked on task to get there. Dwaine Pretorius did not look in form as he kept conceding boundaries to make things easier for the Spirit. Jake Ball was the first guy to pick up the first scalp for the Fire as he got rid of Daniel Bell-Drummond and it did not stop the onslaught from the Spirit’s batters. The star spinner Ish Sodhi deceived Adam Rossington with a top ball and the Fire skipper backed him up right away as he got rid of Eoin Morgan.

Dan Lawrence and the West Indies legend Kieron Pollard kept the scoreboard ticking for the blue team with the hope to reach the average first innings score at this ground. London Spirit did manage to cross the 150-run mark as they ended up getting a total of 156 for the loss of six wickets.

Welsh Fire openers approached the field to clinch the first ever win for the team and the dreams started fading right from the start as both the openers returned for cheap scores. Joe Clarke did not manage to cross nine while Jacob Bethell disappointed after contributing mere 10 runs. Skipper Josh Cobb let the team down with his three runs while South African David Miller returned after scoring just five runs.

Too many single-digit scores put the Fire under a tangle and Ben Duckett tried his best to get them out of the labyrinth. Dwaine Pretorius and Leus du Plooy were good but not great enough to take the team home as they perished after scoring 23 and 30, respectively. Matt Critchley’s seven-ball 21 looked heroic but in vain as the Fire lost the match, once again in this season, by seventeen runs.

Let’s take a look at some of the eye-catchy tweets that users came up with after the conclusion of the match:
