The Women’s Asia Cup 2022 is turning out to be a great spectacle for the fans and India Women are the favourites to win the continental tournament. However, Jemimah Rogridues has been the player to watch out for India as the superstar won her second Player of the Match award in the match against United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 4, Tuesday.
Regarding the match, India Women batted first and the openers crumbled in quick succession. However, the Indian batters Deepti Sharma and Jemimah joined hands to succoured team India and shored up the innings.
While Deepti scored 64 runs, Jemimah, who is in baronial form, secured 75 runs to her name at a strike rate of around 160. The India Women batters put on a total of 178 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of the first innings.

UAE Women, on the other hand, tried their best to chase the total down. However, one could never vitiate their passion for the game as the batters tried to find gaps even when the win looked dubious.
Kavisha Egodage top scored with the bat for UAE with her lionhearted 30. Barring herself and Khushi Sharma, no other batter managed to reach the double-digit mark. Despite playing a few great shots, the batters fell short of the target by 104 runs.
Jemimah said after the match that she kept her mindset simple and rated the wicket to be one of the toughest. She further added on the rapport that she has with Deepti and highlighted the importance of having such friendships in the Indian team.
“My mindset is simple. I just go out there and score as much as I can for the team. I just wanted to pick up the momentum. I had the same talk with Deepti. It took some time as it is not the easiest of wickets. I was talking to Deepti that since the Lanka tour and then CWG both of us had some good partnerships,” Jemimah said after the game.
