England locked horns with South Africa in the third T20I on Sunday. The series was tied at 1-1 after England made an incredible comeback in the second T20I. The third T20I was held at The Rose Bowl stadium. English skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to field first. David Willey had the responsibility to lead the English bowling attack.
He vindicated the plot as he picked Quinton de Kock's wicket in the third ball of the match. Bowled outside off stump at a good length, de Kock tried to bang it over covers. But an inside edge sealed his wicket for Willey. Reeza Hendricks and Rilee Rossouw then joined hands to counterattack the English bowling attack.
Rilee Rossouw smashed four boundaries off Chris Jordan's over and provided a great climax to the powerplay. Right after the powerplay, Moeen Ali claimed Rilee Rossouw's wicket. South Africa managed to put on a score of 191/5 at the end of 20 overs as Aiden Markram remained unbeaten for 51 runs. With 191 required to win the series, the England openers came out with positive intent.ย However, the positivity was soon shattered when the South African pace attack started picking up wickets quickly.
Tabraiz Shamsi, once again, spilled his magic as he picked up a five-for that impressed fans and cricketers all around the world. It was a fiery spell as he conceded only 24 runs off four overs. He managed to pick the wickets of Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, David Willey and Adil Rashid. The English batting bottled in the end as they were bowled out for just 101 runs.
The Proteas enjoyed a massive series win as they won the final T20I by a huge margin of 90 runs. Immediately after Shamsi picked his five-for, the Twitter users eulogized the latter for his incredible spell. The tweets started flowing to praise the spinner. Tabraiz Shamsi's five-for is his first ever in the T20I format. This was in the offing for a long time as he has been consistent of late.
