Captain of the Indian national football team Sunil Chhetri and former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli have met each other a lot. Most recently, Sunil Chhetri visited the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp at M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Kohli also interacted with Chhetri during the visit.

While Kohli could neither help his IPL team to make it to the playoffs nor help Team India to win the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 finals the last month, the Indian football captain helped India to win both the Intercontinental Cup and SAFF Championship in June.

The 38-year-old spoke to the Indian Super League and shared about his bonding with Virat Kohli. “We talk about a lot of normal things. We share a lot of laughter. We share a lot of jokes and a lot of funny stuff. I have had a lot of deep and meaningful chats. It’s not like we talk 24x7 every day. There are phases when we don’t talk for months but the best part is that he understands and so do I. But we catch up exactly from where we left it.” said the Bengaluru FC player.

The Indian Football captain spoke about some interesting things between him and Kohli. The ace striker quoted some unique understanding skills of the former Indian captain. “The few times when I have felt the heat of who I am and the need to perform and the few times that he has felt the heat of who he is and the need to perform, is exactly when we have chatted. He understands that not everyone can understand what we are going through, and it just hits the right note” he stated.

Virat Kohli is currently on a tour of the West Indies, where he will play the Tests and ODIs against the men in Maroon. The tour is set to begin on the 12th of July. The Test matches in the Caribbean islands impact India’s chances in the World Test Championship of the 2023-2025 cycle.
