Amid their seventh consecutive victory in different tournaments, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are in trouble. According to the treble winner, Manchester City is facing trouble due to the increasing number of injured players. In their recent game against Red Star Belgrade, midfielder Bernardo Silva became the latest player to pick up an injury.
The Portuguese international joined Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic, and John Stones on the list. Speaking about his injury, Guardiola revealed that it might push him out of action for a few weeks. This means City will need to continue their further journey without him. These injuries have been troubling City, as in their last game, Guardiola had just six players on the bench to play if needed.
"We are in trouble, but I am not going to say, 'Oh, we have a lot of injuries'. It is what it is," said Guardiola. "With the players we have, we will go for it. As long as we have that mentality, that is good. We have five really important players injured, and to sustain that for a long time would be difficult", he further added. It's worth noting that in the upcoming week, City will be playing three Premier League games.
It would be chaos for the clubs: Pep Guardiola
Further speaking about the recent transfers and deals signed by Manchester City, Guardiola said that the team cannot have 55 players with that budget. He further added that if it happens, it will create chaos for clubs. "We cannot have, with the salaries and the budgets for the transfers, 55 players. It would be chaos for the clubs. They would go bankrupt", says Guardiola.
"Unfortunately, it has been a long time for Kevin. John didn't play; it's a little bit long. Maybe Kova is coming back. Jack maybe in a week or 10 days, but after he needs his condition", he further spoke about injury updates. However, Manchester City will have a busy schedule in the coming days. They will have to travel to Arsenal on October 8, then face New Castle in a Carabao Cup match. They will also face RB Leipzig in the Champions League before the next international break.
