The Indian Cricket Team played Nepal to start their 2022 Asian Games campaign. Yashasvi Jaiswal showed his class to score an amazing century in India’s opening game. Jaiswal became the youngest Indian to score a century in T20I cricket.
This was the first time the Indian Cricket Team had participated in the games. Harmanpreet Kaur had led her team to the podium and won the gold medal. The Indian Women had beaten Sri Lanka to win maiden women's cricket Gold at the Asian Games.
Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to bat first. The pitch promised lots of spin and uneven bounce for the bowlers. The Indian side went in with lots of players who had set the 2023 IPL on fire. Youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh were the players that the Indian fans had their eyes on.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scripts history with his ton
21-year-old Indian batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal set the Pingfeng Cricket Campus on fire. The left-handed-batter put the Nepal bowlers under the pump as he got to his century in just 48 balls. Jaiswal had made his T20 debut for India during the recent series against West Indies.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an even 100 off 49 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 sixes. The Indian team scored an imposing 202 thanks to the youngster. Yashasvi Jaiswal joined an impressive list of names after he got to his century.
Rinku Singh scored a blistering 37 runs off 15 balls to help India finish their innings on a high. The left-hander took the toll of the tired Nepal bowling to smash huge sixes and showcase his talents with the bat.

The youngster becomes the eighth Indian to score a ton in T20I history. Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Surya Kumar Yadav were the previous century makers for India.
Thanks to the ton by Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indians won the game by 23 runs to make it to the semi-finals. India will play their next game on the 6th of October with the final scheduled for the next day.
The other quarter–final matches will witness Pakistan taking on Hong Kong on Tuesday. Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan on Wednesday in the morning game followed by Bangladesh taking on Malaysia. The prospect of an India versus Pakistan encounter for the gold medal is on the cards.
