South Africa’s latest premier T20 competition ‘SA20’ has been rising in popularity with every match as star players are putting on a magnificent exhibition of cricket for their fans. The 11th match of the season was played between Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals. The match turned out to be a close affair as it went down to the last over. During the game, a spectacular catch from Will Jacks left the fans speechless.

The incident took place during the last over of the first innings bowled by Eathan Bosch. On the fourth ball, Gerald Coetzee was facing his first ball having just arrived at the crease following the dismissal of Sibonelo Makhanya on the previous ball.

Bosch bowled a low full toss which Coetzee smacked to deep mid-wicket. Jacks, who was fielding in the area, ran towards his right to cover some ground and put his right hand out. The ball miraculously stuck in his hand as he completed a spectacular catch.

Coming back to the match, Pretoria captain Wayne Parnell won the toss and invited Joburg to bat first. Joburg openers Reeza Hendricks and captain Faf du Plessis added 45 runs for the first wicket in 7.1 overs. Du Plessis was dismissed on 27 by Anrich Nortje for 27 off 16 balls. At the other end, Hendricks continued his struggling innings and scored 45 off 50 balls.

Leus du Plooy's magnificent innings took Joburg to 168/6

Joburg’s innings was rescued by Leus du Plooy who scored a magnificent 75 off 40 balls with seven fours and five sixes which helped them put 168/6 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Eathan Bosch was the pick of the bowlers for Pretoria who picked up 3/12 in four overs while Nortje picked up 2/26 in four overs.

In reply, the Capitals batters got starts but failed to convert them into big scores. Three batters crossed the 20-run mark but couldn’t continue their innings for long. Philip Salt was the highest scorer of the innings with his knock of 29 off 15 balls. With no batter playing a big innings, Pretoria eventually fell seven runs short of their target handing Joburg a win by 7 runs.

Aaron Phangiso was the pick of the bowlers who picked up 4/32 in 4 overs while Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepherd picked up two wickets each. Leus do Plooy was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his magnificent knock.
