Watch: Virender Sehwag hit the nets ahead of Legends League Cricket 2022 special match

Virender Sehwag is all set to lead India Maharajas in the special match against World Giants in the Legends League Cricket. The second edition of the Legends League Cricket will begin with a special match on September 16. The match will be played to celebrate India’s 75 years of Independence and the league matches will begin on September 17.

Ahead of the much-awaited clash, Virender Sehwag has uploaded a video on his Instagram. The veteran hit the nets ahead of the tournament and post the special match, he’ll lead Gujarat Giants in the league. Gujarat Giants will face India Capitals in the first match of the league on September 17.

"Taiyaari shuru #practice #kabhikabhikarletahoon #legendsleague,” he captioned the video that he uploaded on his Instagram account.

I am excited: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag earlier said that he was excited to get back on the field again. Ahead of the tournament, the legendary opener said that he was all set to take on the big stage.

"I am excited to get back to the Cricket ground again. Having Adani Group as Team Principal and a professional outfit like Gujarat Giants is a perfect way to kick start this cricketing inning once again. I have personally always believed in playing fearless cricket and I will continue to propagate the same brand of cricket here too. We are extremely excited and eagerly waiting for the draft to pick our team," Virender Sehwag said earlier.

This will be an exciting tournament with four new teams taking on the big stage. Alongside Gujarat Giants and India Capitals, Bhilwara Kings and Manipal Tigers will also be a part of the league. Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jaipur will host the matches while Kolkata will host the season opener. Virender Sehwag will take the big stage on the very next day after playing the special match for India Maharajas.

The tournament will end on October 10 and the teams are all set for the league to get underway. As far as playoffs are concerned, the top two teams will play the qualifier. The loser of the qualifier will play the third placed team in the eliminator and march on to the finals. The winner of the qualifier will directly barge into the finals of the tournament.
