The Bangalore players are toiling hard in the nets ahead of their first encounter of the Indian T20 League 2023 against Mumbai. Having had a successful campaign last season, finishing fourth in the table, the franchise will be hoping to lift their maiden ITL title this time around. As the Faf du Plessis-led side gears up for the battle against the five-time ITL champions, former Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has hinted at how his team will approach the tournament.
In their net session, Kohli could be seen smashing sixes with some high-risk shots, which could signal a repeat of his blockbuster 2016 season. Whether he is batting in a match or in the nets, his classic-mass shots are always a delight to watch. The same was the case with Bangalore captain du Plessis, whose concentration shifted to Kohli's hit during an interview with the ITL official website.

The former India captain went through the worst patch of his career in the past few years but announced his return to form in style after scoring his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan in the last Asia Cup. He also played a match-winning knock against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2022 T20I World Cup. The 34-year-old continued his form in the other two formats as well with smashing centuries to take his tally of international hundreds to 75.
We can take it all the way this time: du Plessis
The run-machine didn't have the best ITL campaign last year, but the franchise believes the ace batter is back in the groove and can play a crucial role in the 16th edition of the cash-rich league. "He's just firing balls all the time", said the distracted South African cricketer during his interview.
Bangalore are one of the few teams not to have won the ITL trophy since the league's inception. However, their current skipper said that his team is confident of putting up a good performance in their campaign in the latest edition.
“I think we as a team are extremely grateful and we are ready for the season. One thing I can promise you from a player’s perspective is we can take it all the way this time,” Du Plessis said.
