Cricket umpires are meant to not affect the game in any way possible. They are just there to make decisions and make sure the game moves in the right direction.

Their proximity to the game however sometimes brings them right between the proceedings. Something like this happened during the 2nd ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand on Wednesday. The onfield umpire Aleem Dar found himself right in between the throw and the wicket and could not save his leg from being hit.

During the 36th over a throw from Wasim Jr hit straight to Aleem Dar’s leg. Dar could be seen troubled by the pain and threw the jersey that he was holding onto the ground. Pakistan captain Babar Azam and others could be seen laughing at the ordeal while Naseem Shah messaged the right leg of the umpire.

Here's the video:

On Wednesday, during the second day-night international in Karachi, Pakistan's spinner, Mohammad Nawaz, secured four wickets, enabling his team to restrict New Zealand to 261 all out. Despite an impressive century from New Zealand's opener, Devon Conway, the team fell from a strong 183 for one in 29.5 overs to 206-6, losing five wickets for 23 runs in a rapid succession of 40 deliveries.

The New Zealand team, who had won the toss and elected to bat, had been propelled by a second-wicket partnership of 181 between Conway (101) and Kane Williamson (85) before they were brought down by the spin of Nawaz. The visitors made 261 runs on the board which the host team failed to achieve.

Captain Azam played a brilliant knock of 79 off 114 but none of the other batters could string up a good partnership. In the end, Pakistan could only manage 182 on the board and lost the match by 79 runs.

As a result of this win, the 3-match ODI series is now tied 1-1. The third and final match of the series would be held on January 13th at the National Stadium Karachi.
