New Zealand are hosting Bangladesh and Pakistan for a tri-series and the hosts faced off against the Bangla Tigers in Match 5 on October 12, Tuesday. The Kiwis clinched an emphatic win against the low-morale Bangladesh team by 48 runs.

However, a funny incident took place during the second innings of the match when Glen Phillips and Trent Boult had a mix-up about a catch. The duo were unsure of who was going to catch the ball and in the end, the ball landed safely on the ground.

Here’s the video:

Today was a complete batting performance: Phillips

New Zealand batter first in the match and put on a total of 208 runs on the board. While Devon Conway scored a 40-ball 64, Phillips, who came in later, fired it up with a 24-ball 60 and helped the Black Caps reach the mammoth total.

However, the Bangladesh batters displayed a submissive attitude with the bat and lacked the intent to chase the target. Barring the skipper Shakib Al Hasan, the rest of the batters failed to stand up for the team. Commenting on the skipper’s innings, Shakib scored 70 runs off 44 balls and kept the team in the hunt.

Despite his valiant inning, the Bangla tigers lost the match by 48 runs and the team will play their last match in the series against Pakistan on Thursday. Phillips, who won the Player of the Match award, said that he was happy with the win and added that it was a complete batting performance from the team.

“The way Devon batted was absolutely phenomenal. The partnership he and Gup put on really set it up for myself, Neesh and Chaps to hit from ball one. It just happened to be my day at the end of it. Bangladeshis have done their homework, they kept third man up the whole time, their slower balls were really good so I felt down the ground was the better option,” Philips said in the post-match interview.

“ Today was a complete batting performance and the blueprint we have set. Chappie came on and struck from ball one which is what we have been asking - team-first mentality and one of us is going to come off and today it did,” said the batter further.
