Watch: Tagenarine Chanderpaul gets hit on nuts amidst barrage of bouncers from Australian bowlers

Australia and West Indies are locked horns with each other in the first of the two-match Test series. Australia won the toss and chose to bat on Thursday. David Warner departed early for five as he chopped one back onto his stumps off Jayden Seales. But from then, the Australians hit back at the West Indies by scoring a mountain of runs.

Usman Khawaja revived Australia back in the game by scoring a measured 65 off 149 balls with five fours and one six. Marnus Labuschagne showed what he was made of as he continued to have a wonderful run at home and scored a scintillating 204 off 350 balls with 20 fours and one six. He put on a big stand of 251 runs with Steve Smith for the second wicket.

Both scored respective double-hundreds as Australia declared their innings at 598-4. Labuschagne scored his second double hundred in Australia, amassing 204 off 350 balls with 20 fours and one six. He scored his first one against New Zealand in 2020. He had scored his first double ton in Sydney and made 215 on that occasion.

Smith played another sensational knock with the bat as he amassed 200 off 311 balls with 16 fours. Travis Head played superbly for his 99 off 95 balls with 11 fours but was dismissed by Kraigg Brathwaite on 99, which brought an unfortunate end to his innings.

In pursuit of the total, Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul walked to open the innings for West Indies.  The two have made a solid start at the top for West Indies by stitching a 37-run partnership, at the time of writing.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul has impressed so far with his batting exploits. In the course of his innings, he has been greeted by a barrage of bouncers and yorkers on target and also got hit in very unusual places on the body. One of the deliveries by Josh Hazlewood went on to hit his nuts which saw Chanderpaul in severe pain. He has also acted in the film 83 which starred Ranveer Singh and was a big hit amongst the cricket-loving public in India.
