India and Australia faced off in a warm-up game ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Brisbane on October 17, Monday. India batted first and put up a promising batting performance, amassing 186 on the board. India’s vice-captain KL Rahul led steered the side with a promising half-century, complemented by the star batter, Suryakumar Yadav in the backend of the innings.
Rahul top-scored for the Men in Blue with a well-made 57 runs off 33 balls with six fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Suryakumar, who is enjoying the form of his life in the shortest format, scored a good-looking 50 runs off 33 balls with some exquisite shots all around the ground.
However, Suryakumar fell prey to Kane Richardson in the 20th over in a rather ugly way with a leading edge off the bottom of the bat, ballooning the ball straight to the bowler. It was clear that his intention was trying to flick the ball to the leg side. Richardson could not hold his laughter after he took the catch for the manner in which the dismissal was completed.
Here is the video of Suryakumar’s dismissal:

It was the first time he missed the middle of the bat: Richardson
Richardson heaped praise on the Indian batter, calling him one of the best in the world. "I think it was the first time he (Suryakumar Yadav) missed the middle of the bat against us,” said Richardson during an interview after the first innings. “He's one of the best batters in the world at the moment, so it was good taking him on."
Australia, in reply, fell short by 6 runs, despite skipper Aaron Finch’s heroics, who scored a valiant 76 runs off 54 balls. Mitchell Marsh, who opened alongside the skipper, chipped in with a quickfire 35 runs off 18 balls. For India, the pick of the bowlers was Mohammed Shami who bowled the penultimate final over, having to defend 11 runs. He bagged 3 wickets and conceded only 4 runs.
