An absolute legend of the game, MS Dhoni had an emotional night at the Chepauk Stadium on Sunday when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Although CSK could not treat their fans with a win against their bitter-rivals, the post-match gestures no doubt satisfied them, albeit with a little sadness.

The Chepauk stands, during the four-time champion's final home game, was packed with Yellow Army, who went berserk when their beloved 'Thala' and troop did a lap of honour to thank them. However, amid this emotional gesture between the crowd and the CSK team, what broke the internet was India legend Sunil Gavaskar who rushed up to Dhoni for a special autograph.

Acknowledging the former India opener's request, the 2011 World Cup winning captain signed Gavaskar's shirt. The incredible gesture from the charismatic leader quickly went viral on social media.

While rumors of the CSK captain hanging up his boots after IPL 2023 have been doing the rounds since the start of the tournament, Dhoni's home fans didn't want to miss out his final action of this season. The 41-year-old was seen waiving his hands and hitting some balls into the crowd with a racquet as a gratitude to the home fans after the match.

Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh star as KKR beat CSK by 6 wickets

Talking about the match, a brilliant bowling performance which was followed by an outstanding chase by Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana led KKR to a six-wicket victory. When KKR spinners tightened the screws in the middle overs and their pacers closed the innings superbly, CSK were reduced to their lowest total of the season (144). Shivam Dube smashed few boundaries and scored the highest run for his side (48 off 34).

In reply, KKR got off to a poor start, losing three wickets in the powerplay. From a scoreboard reading of 33/3, the two skipper Rana and Rinku shouldered the responsibilities and put on a match-winning partnership of 99 runs. Rinku was dismissed in the 18th over after reaching 57 off 43 balls, while Rana was unbeaten on 57 (44) to help his side cross the finish line with nine balls to spare.
