Babar Azam, the Pakistani skipper, turned up for the wedding of umpire Aleem Dar’s son on January 29, Sunday at Lahore. The right-handed batter is bracing to lead Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) and won the Cricket’s governing body ODI player of the year and cricketer of the year 2022 awards recently.

Babar was seen donning a black suit as he made a grand entry to the wedding hall, only to be surrounded by friends and fans who were desperate to take a picture with him and get his autograph. After clicking a picture with the bride and the groom, the Pakistani skipper was seen rushing back to his car in the video uploaded by ‘Events & Happenings Sports’ on YouTube.

Babar Azam and team brace up for 50-over World Cup 2023

With the 50-over World Cup slated to take place in India later this year, Babar and his team would be hoping to turn things around post losing to England in the finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The team is in the mud as they lost to the Three Lions 0-3 in the Test series that followed the multinational tournament. To the surprise of the fans at home, Pakistan drew the Test series with neither of them winning a match against New Zealand and lost the ODIs that followed.

After being a part of the Karachi team in the PSL for seven years, Babar will lead the Zalmi camp for the first time this year and this might come as a testing phase as there is the 50-over multinational tournament that most teams are aiming at present. With the right-handed batter having a tough time at the office as the captain of the team, it remains to be seen if the Haroon Rasheed-led selection committee might make changes to captaincy ahead of the much-awaited tournament. Fans, on the other hand, are hoping that it does not happen for the benefit of the team.
