T20 Cricket is one of the most entertaining sports in the world. Every match is full of several memorable moments for the fans as there’s hardly a dull moment in the game. Fans were once again treated with some exhilarating T20 action during Match 50 of the Big Bash League Season 12 between Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers.

Steve Smith was seen in imperious form as he brought up his second consecutive BBL hundred scoring 125 off 66 balls with the help of five fours and nine sixes. While several shots from his bat went for gigantic sixes, a shot in the 18th over ended up hitting Moises Henriques in the crotch region.

The incident took place on the third ball of the 18th over by Daniel Sams who banged a slower delivery to Smith. The New South Wales batter waited for the ball to come and smacked it straight down the ground. Moises Henriques, who was at the non-striker’s end, tried his best to get away from the line of the ball but couldn’t avoid it from hitting his crotch. The entire commentary box burst into laughter as Steve Smith was more concerned about the two runs instead of Henriques.

Coming back to the match, Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques won the toss and elected to bat first. Sixers lost their opener Josh Philippe on the score of 29 after 3.1 overs. Kurtis Patterson also fell cheaply as he departed for 2 off 4 balls leaving his team on 32/2 after 4 overs.

Captain Henriques walked out to the middle at no 4 and joined Steve Smith at the crease who was fresh from his first hundred in BBL in the last match. Smith continued from where he left off in the previous match and notched up another hundred from his bat. Henriques also played a handy knock of 45 off 36 balls with the help of one four and two sixes.

Sydney Thunder faltered under the pressure of big target

Courtesy of an unbeaten 155-run stand between Smith and Henriques in 96 balls, Sydney Sixers ended up scoring 187/2 in their allotted 20 overs. Both the wickets falling in Sixers’ innings were taken by Gurinder Sandhu who had figures of 2/42 in four overs.

In reply, Sydney Thunder faltered under the huge scoreboard pressure and got bowled out for a mere 62 in 14.4 overs. Only two batters reached the double-figure mark in Thunders’ innings as Sixers won the match by a whopping 125 runs.

Steve O Keefe was the pick of the bowlers from the Sixers who picked up 4/10 in three overs while Sean Abbott picked up 3/11 in 2.4 overs Ben Dwarshius picked up  2/14 in 3 overs. Steve Smith was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his scintillating hundred.
