In the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL 2023), Galle Titans (GT) beat Dambulla Aura (DA) in a nail-biting match. GT won the game in the super over as the match ended tied after 40 overs of the game. However, the highlight of the game was an uninvited guest who stopped the game for a few minutes.
Midway through the contest, a venomous snake caused a temporary halt in the match as it was spotted roaming on the ground. The incident occurred when the premier Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was preparing to bowl the fifth over in the second innings. The play was briefly stopped while staff attempted to remove the snake, which had been seen near the boundary ropes.
The visuals of this unusual moment quickly spread on social media, and India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who is currently part of the elite Ashes commentary panel, reacted to the incident. He tweeted, “The naagin is back. I thought it was in Bangladesh." Notably, he was referring to the iconic Nagin Dance celebrations of the Bangladesh cricket team.
