Sussex's Brad Currie took one of the greatest catches in cricket history during his side's match against Hampshire in the Vitality T20 Blast at The Hove on Friday (June 16). The Scotland cricketer has taken the internet by storm with his outstanding effort near the boundary line to dismiss Benny Howell in the penultimate over of Hampshire's chase.

With 23 runs needed from 11 balls remaining in the 184-run chase, Howell tried to pull Tymal Mills for a six over midwicket. The ball seemed to be going over the rope until a Superman-kind effort stopped it. Currie, exactly pulled off such an unbelievable stunner, covering a long distance before grabbing a one-handed diving catch in the air. His mind-blowing fielding left everyone in disbelief, including Currie's teammates, who rushed to congratulate him.

Fans on social media expressed their shock as they witnessed one of the best catches in the history of cricket. Veteran Indian wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik was also impressed by Currie's effort, and described it as "one of the greatest catches ever."

"Has to be one of the greatest catches ever. The distance he covers before diving ..phewwwww," Karthik tweeted.

England captain Ben Stokes, who is currently playing against Australia in the 2023 Ashes series, responded with a "filth" remark.

Currie's 3-fer propels Sussex to a 6-run win

It was Currie's remarkable catch that made headlines, but the Scottish player was also brilliant with the ball as he took three wickets for 27 runs. Currie helped his side to defend a score of 183, restricting Hampshire to 177/9 in 20 overs. The left-arm fast-medium bowler dismissed Hampshire opener James Vince for just 8 runs in the second over of their run chase, before dismissing Toby Albert for a duck in his next over.

Currie's next prey was Ross Whiteley, who was dismissed LBW. Sussex has been desperately searching for a win with just six points from nine games this season and is currently ninth in the Vitality Blast's South Group.
