Qatar turned out to be the venue of a lifetime for Lionel Messi. The Argentina striker struck twice in the World Cup final after France beat Argentina 4-2 on penalties following 120 minutes of high-octane football. Argentina won the World Cup after a long gap of 36 years. Messi has sealed the deal and given a lot of joy to football fans across the World.

After the World Cup final ended, the Argentinian fans were drowning in joy and soaking in the moment. But on the other hand, there were some very frightening scenes which were unfolding in France. Thousands of football fans swarmed the streets of Paris, Lyon and Nice. In distressing scenes that were unfolding, Riots were started on the streets.

The fans created a racket on the streets. The French Police tried with all their might to control the proceedings. A number of police officers were attacked with rocks and fireworks. These were very disturbing scenes in France considering they had won the World Cup four years, earlier, when they beat Croatia.

As one part of France was seeing very gruesome scenes unfolding, it was a completely different picture at the Argentine embassy in Paris. At the embassy, which was located a few blocks away from the iconic Arc de Triomphe monument. The Argentine fans were jumping with joy and celebrating the historic occasion. Ahead of the final that was held on Sunday, Fourteen Thousand Policemen were on duty to ensure safety.

This riots just did not happen in France but also have been happening in Europe recently. There was a lot of instability seen in France and Belgium after France had defeated Morocco on Wednesday. Morocco fans didΒ  not take well to Morocco losing in the semi-finals as there were violent scenes in France with firecrackers and flares. A fourteen-year-old met with an unfortunate death when the clashes happened.

The Football World Cup in Qatar has been a superb spectacle for all the football fans with a number of upsets through out the tournament. The quality of Football on show has been outstanding and Qatar has hosted the World Cup very well in terms of making it more accessible to the differently abled.
