Australia and South Africa are indulging in a 3-match Test series two matches out of which have already been won by the host country. The third match at Sydney Cricket Ground has seen a number of stoppages due to poor weather and things are not looking for a result.
Australia and captain Pat Cummins however are still going at it and want to win the match. So much so that Cummins declared Australia’s first inning when Usman Khawaja was playing at 195*.
In order to win the third match and whitewash South Africa in the 3-match Test series, Australia would have to pack the Dean Elger-led side quickly not just once but twice in two days.
Australian bowlers are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to picking up the wickets. But it is also due to South African batters’ poor technique that they are close to getting whitewashed.
One such poor batting was on display when Protea opener Sarel Erwee was bowled by Nathan Lyon on Day 4. A video clip of the wicket that is going increasingly viral shows Erwee leaving a straight Lyon ball. The ball does not turn away from the southpaw as he must have expected. Instead, it stayed the course and hit Erwee’s off stump in what was a poor leave from the batter.
Here's the video:
A shocker of a leave from Sarel Erwee!

As for the match, 47 overs were wasted on Day 1 due to poor weather in addition to 7 more on Day 2. The entirety of Day 3 was washed out due to rain which is why Australian captain Cummins took the shocking decision of declaring innings on 475/4 when Khawaja was just 5 runs away from his first-ever international double century.
