We have had a long list of father-son pairs playing cricket for India, from Lala and Mohinder Amarnath to Sunil and Rohan Gavaskar. They have had distinguished careers for the country and have kept the Indian flag flying high. One son who is making waves in domestic cricket at the moment is Arjun Tendulkar, the son of one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Sachin Tendulkar.
Arjun recently scored his first hundred in the Ranji Trophy on his debut for Goa. He came in at No 7 and hit 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. Tendulkar also scored a hundred in his debut Ranji Trophy game 35 years ago. Speaking about his hundred, Tendulkar told the media not to push Arjun too hard.
“Arjun has not led a normal childhood; being a son of a cricketer who has been for quite some time, it is not so easy and that is the only reason when I retired and was facilitated by the media in Mumbai, my message to them was: allow Arjun to fall in love with cricket, give him that opportunity,” He said in an event at Infosys at 40.
“You can follow up with various statements after he has performed. Don’t put pressure on him because I never had pressure from my parents,” ''My parents gave me the freedom to go out and express myself, there was no pressure of expectations. It was only encouragement and support and how could we go and better ourselves and that is what I wanted him to do. I kept telling him that it’s going to be challenging,” he added.

Arjun switched bases from Mumbai to Goa in first-class cricket to allow him to get a greater deal of exposure. Arjun has some X factor in the sense that he is a left-arm bowler who bats in the middle order. He also bats left-handed. He was also seen training with Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh’s father. Yograj when he was coaching him told him to forget that he is Sachin’s son for 15 days to get the pressure of expectations off him.
